Lady Bulldogs Peak Over Del Valle in Opener

The Magnolia Lady Bulldogs were facing the unknown in their first match of the Bi-District playoffs Tuesday night at the Bellville High School gymnasium, as they stared across the net at their opponent - the Del Valley Lady Cardinals. Unfamiliar settings?...well, yeah!! Deep in the heart of Texas. Here the DAWGS are in a quaint, small town with a nice atmosphere and sure enough, the road to the state 4A Volleyball Championship for Region III, is running right through the middle of it. What's more, it starts here and it's cranking up, right now! Who are these Lady Cardinals, and where exactly is Del Valley? Can the 'Cards possibly be as committed (or more) to winning this match as the Lady Bulldogs are? What are their strengths and weaknesses, etc?? The DAWGS would find out soon enough, but they would have to start out strong and establish their dominance early to set the tone for the evening.

The ladies did just that! The first point went the DAWGS way, with a block at 1-0, then followed by a couple of errors by the Lady Cardinals, then an ace serve by Meagan Little at 4-0, and followed up by another error by the Cards, and zoom ......before the fans knew it, here the DAWGS were at 5-0 and the first time-out of the evening by the Del Valley coaching staff was already burned!

Lady Bulldog fans can look forward to seeing this

for 2 more years with OHL Katzy Randall and MB

Courtney Felinski stopping those pesky attacks!

When play resumed, the Lady Cardinals shed their pregame jitters and tightened their game somewhat, pulling within 2 at 11-9 as the DAWGS scrambled to rekindle that 'killer spirit". The ladies regrouped and went on a 5 to 2 run of their own and despite being in control at 16-11, the DAWGS had to be wondering, "Who are these 'Cards?" and "Why won't they just go away?"

Lady Bulldog hitter Katzy Randall increased the

margin between the teams with a couple of key kills.

The DAWGS continued to push forward behind a couple of Kelli Stewart kills (2 of the 6 kills Kelli had in this set) and a couple of Breane Matula kills at 18-13 and 19-14, before (conveniently) leading into this audio file:
