PEARLAND FINISH BEST EVER!

It was an exciting weekend at the Pearland VB Classic Tournament!

Your own Lady Bulldog Varsity completed the tournament in superb fashion!

This tournament included, based on last week's rankings, #1 Lake Travis, #2 Lovejoy, #3 Richardson Pearce, #4 Westlake, #5 Hebron, #6 Cy Woods, #7 Flower Mound Marcus, #8 San Antonio Reagan, #12 Keller Central...just to drop a few names into the hat!

Of course at #13...Magnolia Bulldogs!

What a tourney it was...After finishing second to #7 ranked Marcus in pool play, the Lady Bulldogs entered the Gold Bracket against some of the best ranked teams in the state!
Pool Results:
Stony Point...Magnolia Won 2-0 (25-20, 25-18)
Ft. Bend Travis...Magnolia Won 2-0 (25-19, 25-23)
Marcus...Marcus Won 2-0 (25-15, 25-13)

On to the GOLD BRACKET!!

First victim: Georgetown, Magnolia Won 2-0 (25-23, 25-22)
Next victim: Seven Lakes...this team has been making a move with quality wins at the Katy tourney last week, but it was not enough to beat the Bulldogs...Magnolia Won 2-1 (25-19, 24-26, 25-20)

This sets up a showdown with #3 Pearce and moves us into the round of TOP 16...and it was a battle from beginning to end...with the final score 23-25, 24-26...and with a couple of questionable ball handling & line call...the second set could have changed...

The Lady Bulldogs didn't let the close loss to Pearce stop their journey...beginning play on Saturday vying for the #9 spot...and winning the next match over a familiar foe from Tuesday night: The Woodlands, Magnolia Won AGAIN 2-1 (25-23, 15-25, 25-22)

Next up was Cy-Woods, ranked #6 in the Texas Top 20 and #1 in 5A by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. Although we came up short with a 16-25, 16-25 loss...the team had TONS of BULLDOG PRIDE in this finish!

The BEST by a Bulldog team EVER at the Pearland Classic!! We finished tied for #11-#12. In this tourney of 76 quality teams...a GREAT achievement!!

Stats for matches will be posted on Monday! Congrats to Courtney Felinski, who stepped up her play as a senior leader on this squad throughout the tourney & was named to the "Best of the Best" All Tournament Team!
