Lake Highlands Take the High Road Against Magnolia

The battle weary Lady Bulldogs were still able to manage a

smile after their runner-up consolation finish at Duncanville.

Set 2 and Match 3 on a warm Saturday afternoon and those "meanies" (Lake Highlands) are ruining all our fun by closing in on eliminating our Lady Bulldogs and are getting even closer to touching the trophy themselves. The Lady Bulldogs jumped to a 2-0 lead behind a couple of good serves from Hannah Fort, leading briefly and then pulling even several volleys later with a Michele Williams block point at 4-4. The Lake Highlands Lady Wildcats took off like a paranoid mountain goat from there outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 7 to 2 forcing Coach J to call a time out at 6-11. Magnolia just couldn't catch the Lady Wildcats from the tie to the end of the game...the closest they came to catching them was a 2 point margin 19-21, 20-22, 22-24...but they just couldn't get that next point.

The loss offset impressive performances by Michele Williams and Alicia Shaffer. Lake Highlands' only loss on the weekend was to Westlake. Oh well, all good things must come to an end!!.....the Lady Bulldogs had a great run at it and should be proud that they finished in the top 4. This audio file picks up with the score at 16-20 with the Lake Highlands Lady Wildcats in control.
