Cy Woods End DAWGS Home Win Streak

The Cy Woods Lady Wilcats came to the DAWG House and jumped on their hosts while systematically dismantling the DAWGS hitting machine in 4 sets (25-23, 26-24, 19-25, 25-22) in an emotion-packed match. In doing so, the 'Cats brought the Lady Bulldogs home win streak to a grinding halt at 25 matches, and showed the crowd that these ladies can play great defense as well as score from anywhere on the court, and are for real!

The DAWGS celebrated their short

lived 25-19 victory in their third Set.

The 'Cats are expected to be the last one standing in the District 15-5A finals at the end of the season and will be certainly vying for Regional honors and more. The 18-4A Magnolia Lady Bulldogs are taking a little different route while facing the top district contenders up and down the line, in both 5A and 4A districts (Duncanville Tournament of Champions) and will no doubt match up with some more of Texas' elite squads over the next couple of weeks - in tournament play (Spring Branch and Pearland). You can pretty much bank on the DAWGS will be in the hunt as well.

Lady Bulldogs Courtney Felinski and Meagan Little
teamed up to shut down the Lady Wilcats' attack.

While the DAWGS were not the better team tonight, there were some bright spots. After sweeping Cy Creek on the road last night, the DAWGS had a little momentum going their way and would be called upon while entertaining the 2nd ranked 5A team in the state. Senior Lady Bulldog Kelli Stewart had 17 kills, 7 digs, with 6 aces; Katzy Randall had 12 kills, 12 digs with 1 bock assist; Paige Holland had 40 assists with 13 digs, and 1 kill. Both teams overcame fairly significant leads in the 4 sets, with 'play-off like momentum swings, with as many as 8 points in the first set alone, to eventually pull close and slug it out at the end. It turned out that both teams were closely matched.

The Lady Bulldogs battled all the
way in this evenly contested match.

There's no rest for the weary as the Lady Bulldogs prepare to go to the Spring Branch Tournament, on Thursday, Aug 21st at 5 pm at Spring Woods and start working on some new streaks of their own!

The Lady Bulldogs have been busy grinding it out with tough opponents since their season opened and will be facing more as 'Tournament play' ramps up.

GO LADY BULLDOGS!!!
