The DAWGS continued with where they previously left off at the end of the last set, starting with a Katzy Randall ace in the second set 1-0; and a combination of a Kelli Stewart hit off the 'Stangs' hands at 3-2 and a serving ace later at 7-5; then Meagan Little serving up an ace at 4-2 and a shot to the floor at 11-8; a Courtney Felinski dink at 5-4; and a Katzy Randall tip at 8-6. The DAWGS sprinkled the scoring sheets with some wonderful plays but unfortunately would follow them up with hitting, passing and setting errors which indiscretely kept MWHS in the hunt and would eventually keep the game within their reach. Once the teams knotted up at 15-15 the momentum suddenly changed and the Lady Mustangs owned the DAWGS at 20-17 and again, precariously at 24-20. The DAWGS looked like they were going to pull it out when they scored the next 2 points, but an errant shot into the net sealed their fate in set 2 with a 22-25 score, and all-of-a-sudden both teams were back to being even with one victory apiece. 'Gut check' time with the DAWGS coming up!
The Lady Bulldogs' fans had plenty of support

The DAWGS blew the scoreboard out scoring 8
straight in their first meeting with the Lady Mustangs!
The Magnolia Lady Bulldogs opened their District 18-4A rivalry tonight with the Magnolia West Lady Mustangs by scampering to an eight to zip lead and began making the match look pretty imbalanced. The DAWGS smothered the 'Stangs while earning each point; starting with a Meagan Little block at 1-0 and then following it up with a serving ace at 2-0; then a Courtney Felinski blast off the Lady Mustangs' hands, eerrrrr ..... hoofs at 3-0; followed with a Happy Birthday kill at 4-0; then a Kelli Stewart blast off the battered 'Stangs at 5-0; only to have Courtney block a couple of attacks at 6-0 and 7-0; then Kelli again, punishing the defenders with a hard hit ball that ricocheted of the blockers' arms - all before the first time out of the evening was called.
Soph Lady Bulldog MB Courtney Felinski (R) and
senior OH Kelli Stewart made life miserable for the
MWHS Lady Mustangs.
On one side of the net there stands a taller, stronger team/program with waves of experience and dominance pouring over the newbies, who were trying to mount an attack here, then defend themselves over there! The DAWGS took advantage of their experience together and ripped off another 12-7 scoring tear to lead at 20-7. The Lady Mustangs had to be thinking about then - that maybe this volleyball rivalry may be a one-sided affair for a while! Both teams played it even from there to the finish, scoring 5 apiece and ending set 1 at 25-12.
GO LADY BULLDOGS!!!
