The 2005 Magnolia Lady Bulldogs rolled over their opponents this week with a couple of impressive match wins over the Bryan Lady Vikings on Tuesday, August 9th and the Klein Collins Lady Tigers on Friday, August 12th. The ladies now stand (2-0) for the season in match play and (6-1) in their games and continue to thrill the crowd with some spectacular volleyball action.
The Lady Bulldogs started the match out slowly but rallied at the end of game 1 to overtake Klein Collins 25-23, then clawed their way to a 25-19 victory in game 2 before finishing the (best 3 out of 5) match with a 25-14 win 'going away'. Michele Williams and Lauren Michael each added 11 kills and 6 Digs apiece to lead the good guys and Laura Prinsen tallied 13 kills for the Lady Tigers. Again there was strong net play from Hannah Fort (7 kills, one solo block), Kelli Stewart (2 block assists), Heather Bowden (2 Kills, 2 Digs), and Alicia Shaffer (6 kills and 14 Digs) who also had a spectacular game of serving. Alicia rattled off a string of serves at the beginning of Game #3 that had the Lady Tigers on their back paws, forcing them into seven service-receive errors from which they could not recover. Mary Chadwick (21 assist sets) and Caitlin Holland (9 assist sets) continued doing a good job of dishing out the sets to keep the Lady Bulldogs fed and in command throughout the match.
Next up will be the Lady Bulldogs traveling to Huntsville, TX on Tuesday August 16th for a 6:00 PM start against the Lady Hornets (3-0) and then returning to the Dawg House on Friday, August 19th at 6:00 PM to take on the Klein Forest Golden Eagles (0-2).
