Lady Bulldogs Start District Play 1-0

The Lady Bulldogs 'rockin' the Dawg House with first
district win against the Jersey Village Lady Falcons

The Magnolia Lady Bulldogs (1-0) started their quest for the District 17-5A Championship with an impressive display of weaponry and skill as they blew past the Jersey Village Lady Falcons in 3 straight games tonight in the Dawg House. With surgeon-like precision and energized fans, the Lady Bulldogs sliced and diced the low flying Lady Falcons right out of the sky with scores 25-10, 25-15, and 25-14. Michele Williams (13 Kills and 9 Digs) controlled the middle and scored seemingly whenever she wanted. Michele's now famous "Williams' Glide" worked to perfection as she swept to the right side and hammered the ball down to the floor. Kelli Stewart played well as did Hannah Fort and Alicia Shaffer (10 Digs). Lauren Michael got hot in the third game and finished the night as the leader for Magnolia with 16 Kills and 11 Digs. Lady Falcon Christina Gavenas had 6 kills, but were not effective enough to help the Falcons. The Lady Bulldogs stepped up their defensive play and made some incredible digs and passed the ball around like they were playing with a bone. Caitlin Holland (11 Assists) and Mary Chadwick (25 Assists) dished out great sets and passed the ball superbly and controlled the court as Coach J gave the supporting players playing time for some game 'experience' that may be needed in the future.
'Boom Boom' does it again. The 'Williams' Glide' that is...
Michele slides to the right side and blows a kill by two
Jersey Village defenders in the Lady Bulldogs (3-0) rout.

Each of the games started fast for the Lady Bulldogs and just got faster as they went on. The entire match lasted less than 50 minutes. Game#1 score was 12-6, then ballooned to 17-8, and 25-10 before the Lady Falcons could get airborne. Game #2 much the same: 11-4, then 18-7, and 25-15. Game #3 was similar but was closer at 10-7, then the Bulldogs stretched the lead to 19-11, before crushing Jersey Village with a 25-14 finish. Another total team victory goes into the books as a big "W" goes into the column where it counts - district win!

Congratulations!!! I just love your web page!! Great layout, excellent and interesting writing, great pictures, all bringing great news about the Lady Bulldogs!! And yes, volleyball is my favorite sport.I have subbed here in the MISD for three years, and I love coming to the high school. I am a long term sub for Elaine Butler (Spanish) and I'm so glad I was privy to this newsletter. I'd love to come support ya'll some Tuesday night. Perhaps I'm not reading the schedule correctly, but all I see are away games. When's the next home game? I'll be there! Bumping and digging,
