The Lady Bulldogs find it hard to contain their excitement
after beating Klein Oak and advancing to the semi-finals.
Holy frijole !! The Magnolia fans watching the Lady Bulldogs (11-1) take on perennial power Klein Oak at the Don Coleman Coliseum today were hoping the wake-up call was going to come earlier in the match, but when it did come much later - were all apreciative when Alicia Shaffer was the one who answered the call for the Lady Bulldogs! Alicia worked her magic with some key kills at just the right time and followed it up with some spectacular defensive plays (7 Digs) to keep the Lady Bulldogs surging ahead and finally put the Klein Oak Lady Panthers to sleep. Permanent sleep!
Up until that point both teams were locked up in a real old-fashioned dogfight and were truly slugging it out. Neither team could jump ahead by more than 3 points when the other would battle back to tie it up and even go ahead. This match had it all - unforced errors, backrow kills, timely momentum-stopping blocks, good coaching, come from behind drama - you know that kind of things that drive your blood pressure way up! Lauren Michael had a good game killing from the left side with 13 kills and also made some great defensive digs (8) and passes, while Michele 'Boom-Boom' Williams had 8 Kills and made 2 timely blocks - and of course, "the shot heard around the world" to end it once and for all. Following Michele and Lauren was Hannah Fort and Alicia Shaffer with 6 Kills apiece. Another inspirational team win (25-21)...
