The Lady Bulldogs arrived at Northbrook High School this afternoon ready to play volleyball and wasted no time in shutting down the Clements Lady Rangers in Game #1 by a score of 25-22. Magnolia took advantage of their power by stroking the ball when they had it and blocking the ones when they were coming at them and once they ironed out their defensive strategy, the Lady Bulldogs handled the 11th ranked team in the state like a 'walk in the park'. Michele (Boom Boom) Williams planted 9 of her patented, explosive kills at the feet of the Lady Rangers rendering them helpless and shaking in their boots. (Ok, maybe their sneakers !!) Kelli Stewart, Hannah Fort and Heather Bowden all played their usual great game at the net relegating Clements to 3-balling almost every play -- just like the Lady Bulldogs like to be fed! Mary Chadwick and Caitlin Holland continued to run the offense like a well oiled machine and played well defensively. When the attacking duo of Lauren Michael and Alicia Shaffer were added to the mix the result was an over-powering, lethal, Bulldog cocktail that went down easy with deadly results.
