DAWGS Skin Lady Tigers in Playoff Debut

OH Lady Bulldog Alicia Shaffer lit into the Lady Tigers
tonight, keeping the defenders confused with her serving.

The Magnolia Lady Bulldogs waisted very little time tonight as they ripped into the Klein Collins' Lady Tigers in the first set behind a powerful attack, good digging and passing, and a bunch of unreturnable serves - all of the things that got Magnolia to where they were tonight. The Lady Dogs opened up to a 4 point lead behind an assortment of plays starting with MB Michele Williams opening Magnolia's scoring with her patented Glide shot, then following it up with a couple of blocks; an OHR Ashlynn Newman hit off the defenders' hands; and a "classic" 4 point' assortment of Alicia Shaffer's "Favorite Hits" as she attacked the net for her first point at 4-2, then a great kill down the left line at 7-4, then (one of my personal favorites) .... the kill coming up in the middle (though this bullet came from the back row) at 8-6, and then topping it off with a jump serve ace at 9-6. All that was needed for a "cherry on the top" was a 'Happy Birthday' combo kill at 10-6 from MB Hannah Fort and OHR Kelli Stewart that was the result of an overpass from the Lady Tigers' back row who unsuccessfully tried to return Alicia's serve. But, the DAWGS still weren't done. Not even close... MB Hannah Fort's block at 11-6 and a pair of Alicia Shaffer ace serves had the Lady Tigers snared at 13-6. A OHR Kelli Stewart dink and another Michele 'Boom Boom' Williams Glide later had the DAWGS mauling Klein Collins at 19-9 when this audio file picked up the action:

Holy frijole!...'Bat-Babe' Alicia Shaffer's secret weapon tonight was her
hitting and her great defense. The family resemblence though, is amazing!
