The Lady Bulldogs JV swept The Woodlands' Lady Highlanders JV in 2 quick sets 25-17 and 25-16 Friday evening to keep themselves in total command of the district 15-5A JV race. The ladies continued to play solid volleyball with a blend of talented starters and hard working, off-the-bench players with depth and are beginning to look comfortable while unstoppable, and with an undefeated district record to boot...
The Lady Bulldogs JV continue to be one step ahead, faster, and
higher than their opponents during their district 15-5A run...
The PUPS jumped on the "Laddies" early and hard, taking a 9 point lead at 11-2 behind devastating service aces (OH Jamie Paulson, MB Breann Matula), and kill shots by the "Two Towers of Power": MB Breann Matula at 2-0 and 5-1; a MB Meagan Little kill at 6-1 ; and a great, 3 minute-plus volley thrown in; then topped off by a point from a Michelle Larson' kill on the right side. From there, the ladies kept hammering away with a couple of Meagan Little blocks at 12-4 and 14-8; an OH Jamie Paulson (patented), cross court kill at 16-10; a Matula-Larson "assist-combo block" (with plenty of mustard) at 18-11; and a battle 'royale' at the net finished up from a Meagan Little kill at 23-14 - really scattered the Highlanders for good. All it took was a final bullet by Jamie Paulson at 25-17 to take the Highlanders' visas away- because they weren't going to be coming back from this one! Set #1...DAWGS take control!
In the second set, the Bullpups dragged the lead out slowly, then kept pushing forward until the Lady Highlanders couldn't keep up, and had to be finally dragged from behind the DAWG-train that wouldn't be stopping for anyone. Lady Bullpup setter (and jump server extrordinaire) Angela Yzaguirre got Magnolia going with an ace at 1-0 and later at 17-11, and kept The Woodlands "shell-shocked" as OH Katie Kreft who had an ace at 9-5; and Brittany Wheaton who had an ace at 13-10 kept them off-guard. MB Meagan Little created a bunch of havoc in the middle with kills at 4-5 and again at 6-5, while putting the PUPS in the lead for good. Meagan followed up that shot with a block at 7-5 and Chelsea Jackson got the momentum back for Magnolia with a shot at 12-10, but a couple of pivotal points by OHR Michelle Larson (kill at 15-11 and a block at 16-11) really began to separate the 2 teams once and for all. With a couple more kills from Jamie Paulson at 19-12 and later at 24-16, the Woodlands' home crowd and the "little Laddies" were hopelessly deflated while the Magnolia crowd chanted in unison, " One more point...One more point!!!....."
It wasn't but one play later, Lady Bulldog MB Meagan Little gave the visiting crowd their wish, by a unleashing a big, booming kill at 25-16 and quickly The Highlanders' JV were embarrassingly swallowed up and gone, in one fell swoop and again the Bullpups set the tone for the evening! The "hills were alive" with the sounds of the DAWGS barking while ruling the countryside....
YOU GO LADIES!!! BULLPUPS RULE!!!
