DAWGS Pounce On Panthers

The Magnolia Lady Bulldogs rebounded from their controversial loss this past week by playing earlier than normal and jumping on the Caney Creek, sweeping the Lady Panthers in 3 quick sets (25-8, 25-11, and 25-9) in front of a growing MHS Homecoming crowd. The ladies switched their starting time with the JV teams so the upperclassmen could attend the homecoming football game that would've been scheduled close to the original time for the volleyball match.

Besides, senior Sarah Bacho was in the Homecoming Queen's court and her Lady Bulldogs' team mates had to be there to cheer her on!

The DAWGS wasted little time jumping out to a 6 point edge in the first set with 4 earned DAWGIE treats....errrr kills, and 2 Panther errors to lead 6-0 and to go on a tear from there. The DAWGS quickly stretched their lead at 12-3 behind another barrage from Breane Matula at 8-3 and Kelli Stewart kills (at 9-3, 11-3, and 12-3) and a couple of Caney Creek errors. The DAWGS confidently and methodically blew ahead to 21-5, before trading points in the end to make the score 25-8.

The Lady Bulldogs rode the momentum in the second set as well though the Lady Panthers played stronger. The DAWGS worked up a 4 point edge at 8-4, only to have it disappear to one point at 9-8, then built up a 6 point margin at 14-8 behind superb play from Meagan Little and Kelli Stewart's kills along with well-played, productive team-passing. The DAWGS continued their solid play outscoring CC 11 to 3 and scampering to a 25-11 bludgeoning.

Courtney Felinski and Breane Matula shut down the

Panthers' options, as they closed down the hitting lanes.

Continuing with the popular mantra, "the beatings will continue until morale improves..." - the DAWGS poured it on, again with a 5-0 jump on CC behind a Courtney Felinski (carefully placed) dink at 3-0 and a couple of twin kills at 4-0 and 5-0 and Lady Panther coach Ortiz called for a 'desperation' time out.

Talkin' 'bout a pair of twin killas!

Unfortunately for the visitors, it did little to stop the DAWG machine that was hitting on all cylinders. The DAWGS stayed ahead at 13-3 culminating with OHR Ashlyn Newmann blasting a shot down the right side of the court, and another ensuing barrage from the DAWGS opened it up to a 13 point spread at 20-7, mostly behind 3 Katzy Randall kills. It was only fitting that Meagan Little would have an ace serve at 24-9 and have the last point put on the board with another Kelli Stewart missle at 25-9. Unofficially, Kelli had 15 kills and 5 aces.... with each point, another statement!

The ladies had earned themselves a kitchen pass to go and enjoy the Homecoming game along with the special events and to experience what Magnolia High School tradition is all about!

The Lady Bulldogs were all on one frequency in tonight's match.

The DAWGS travel to Waller next Tuesday and we need a large Magnolia contingent on hand to witness Coach J's 200th win!! BE THERE!!!

GREAT JOB LADY BULLDOGS!!!
BULLDOG PRIDE!!!
