The Lady Bulldogs opened the Spring Branch Tournament against the Katy Seven Lakes Lady Spartans and came out blistering the Lady Spartans 25-10 in the first set of their match.
Numerous aces and great defense were the keys in this match. The Lady Spartans came back strong in the second set keeping the game close and the Lady Bulldogs actually trailed at 14-15 before outscoring the Seven Lakes 11-6 down the stretch. Another good start for Magnolia who will be facing the Memorial Lady Mustangs in the next match....yes, the one and same Memorial team who eliminated the state playoff -bound Lady Bulldogs last season. The host Lady Mustangs are one of the favorites to win this tournament but will have a tough road to hoe, as well.
