Did You Know.....?

Okay, class.....here's this week's quiz:

Did you know.....?

…...No piece of paper can be folded in half more than seven (7) times?

……in the 2006 TGCA Volleyball Poll for Week #4 (9/11/06) the Memorial Lady Mustangs are not ranked in the top twenty even though they have beaten 3 or 4 of the teams ranked? They also finished 7th at the Pearland Tournament higher than most of the teams listed and they were one of the only teams taking a game from Austin Westlake at the tourney...and oh yeah, they were region semifinalists last year.

…..in the same TGCA poll Cinco Ranch is ranked 15th in the state (two slots ahead of Magnolia) despite having a losing record at 9-10?

.….that tearing your ACL is not a “career-ending” injury for young volleyball players? There are many ‘comeback’ success stories…..One mother’s oldest daughter tore ACL in her junior year, had surgery, rehab’d vigorously, and was back for her senior year and is now playing in college. Her other daughter tore her's within a month of her older sister, had surgery, rehab’d and was back playing club in 3 months. 2 years later she tore her other one. Went through the same surgery and rehab and is enjoying her senior year and has committed to play in a D-1 school. Her girls will tell you that it's all in the attitude.

..….that at one time, we actually drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle? (wow, how did we ever survive?)

..….American Airlines saved $40,000 in 1987 by eliminating one (1) olive from each salad served in first-class?

…..Venus is the only planet that rotates clockwise?

……an ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain? (You know, I used to wonder why ostriches were not popular high school mascots...!!)

…..Texas has actually had six capital cities? 1. Washington-on-the-Brazos; 2. Harrisburg; 3. Galveston; 4. Velasco; 5. West Columbia; and 6. Austin.
