Lady Bulldogs Take Care of Business With St Agnes

A couple of resourceful (Michele Williams and Hannah Fort) fans were wearing
their jerseys in support and appreciation of the talented Lady Bulldog duo!

The Lady Bulldogs played inspired volleyball in front of an appreciative group of fans tonight at the DAWG House and took control of a match and that was not expected to be easy. The 2006 St Agnes Lady Tigers came into the gym with a 20-5 record and a wicked win streak against Magnolia. It was a year ago this very week that St Agnes, who had a 2 year streak going against Magnolia, was going to face the 2005 Lady Bulldogs but had to reschedule as hurricane Rita made different plans for eveyone. I can imagine several volleyball enthusiasts were a little nervous with a very talented 2006 Lady Tigers team roaming in their house.

The Lady Bulldogs didn't start the night like they were looking for any advancement or even on the job, trailing 3-7 in the beginning of the first set, but when Lady Bulldog MB Hannah Fort got things rolling at 4-7 with a kill, and followed up with another at 5-7, then threw up a 'monster' block at 6-7, things got interesting. Caitlin Holland jumped in with a service ace at 7-7, Hannah had another kill at 8-7 and Caitlin quickly trumped her with another service ace at9-7 and this 6-0 run made things look real good.....for a short while. Once again the DAWGS found themselves behind at 12-14, but it turned out that they were beginning their stretch of outscoring the Tigers by a 13-6 margin with Michele Williams' kill at 14-15; an Alicia Shaffer 'Happy Birthday' gift at 15-15; an Ashlynn Newman block at 16-15; another Alicia kill at 17-16; then a patented 'Hannah Glide' shot down the right side at 20-19; another pair of Alicia jump serve aces at 21-19 and 22-19; followed by a Kristyn Bergen kill at 24-20; with a Kelli Stewart kill at 25-20 as the topper to a strong come-from-behind victory.

Set1 was behind them and the Lady Bulldogs looked stronger and were in charge with a few sets to go.....GO GET 'EM LADY BULLDOGS!!!
