Lady Bulldog JV Middle Blocker Meagan Little took control
and set the bar higher for her team mates...Great job, Megan!!
Things started out slowly for our Magnolia Lady Bulldogs JV team Tuesday night against the Langham Creek Lady Lobos, but came to a boil in the middle of set #1 when the Lady Bulldogs began to overrun the Lobos with strong, solid kills and some pretty impressive defensive work as well. The Langham Creek home fans were on a short fuse once the Lobos figured the Lady Bulldogs were NOT going to give up any more points on unforced errors, and began to sit back quietly as Magnolia controlled the tempo, action, and oh yeah, - the game!
In Set #1 MB Meagan Little had some booming kills for the DAWGS at 3-7 and 5-11 (and that was about it...at the start) before she got some help from team mates OH Jamie Paulson (kill at 6-11 and 10-15, and a service ace at 11-15) and a nice kill from MB Breane Matula at 9-13 to get the DAWGS rolling. The Bulldogs' defense stiffened and held the Lobos to 1 point as the barrage of points mounted up to an overage of 10-1 for the good guys. (That's us, in case you are getting confused!) But Meagan's following kill at 14-16, with setter Angela Yzaguirre's dink at 16-16, and Katie Kreft's kill at 17-16: sparked the Lady Bulldog's comeback into a flash fire that put the DAWGS on top at 22-17 and an amazing 5 point lead after trailing by as much as 10 points earlier at 3-10. Simply put: the ladies never panicked, reduced their errors, took it one point at a time, and then closed them out by running away with it, by a score of 25-21!......
In Set #2 the Lady Bulldogs JV pounced on the Lobos from the beginning starting with some key serves from Jamie Paulson and an ace at 4-1; then a Breane Matula lightning bolt thrown at them at 6-2; followed by a Chelsea Jackson 'hammer time' kill at 7-3 and the DAWGS were leading the pack and never looking back!! The ladies built up an eleven point lead at 24-13 before they graciously gave back 3 points (as a gesture of mercy, I'm sure) and scattered the wounded Lobos off at 25-16 to set the tempo and expectation level for their 'sisters' who were ready to wreak the same havoc on their varsity contemporaries, as soon as they could clear the floor!!........
Next up: Tues. Sept. 19 HOME vs. St. Agnes JV plays at 5:30 PM.
GREAT JOB LADIES!!! LADY BULLDOG PRIDE!!!
