DAWGS Begin Their Feast In Second Set

In Set 2, the Lady Mustangs galloped out of the stable and jumped to a 4-1 advantage behind several errors from the Lady Bulldogs who were still feeling pretty good about zipping past the 'Stangs at crunch time in the first set. The wake-up call quickly came from Kelli Stewart who gave the Lady Mustangs a dose of reality with a shot hammered off the defenders' hoofs at 2-4; a Jamie Kaleh precision shot in the left corner at 3-4; then a Michele Williams' quick kill tied the teams up at 4-4.

It was a race to the finish as freshman Paige

Holland set this one up for her hungry team mates!

Memorial again raised their level of play with a spirited attack to grab the lead at 5-4, only to have junior hitter Meagan Little slam a shot in the middle to tie the DAWGS up again at 5-5, and as it turns out ...started the Lady Bulldogs "off and to the right" as they never relinquished the lead for the rest of the evening! It was a Meagan Little/Hannah Fort combo assist block at 6-5; a Hannah Fort shot at 9-7; then a feeding frenzy from Kaleh, Williams, Fort, and Little (sounds a little like a law firm, doesn't it?) that put the DAWGS in control as they cruised to a 7 point advantage at the finish.

This Lady Mustang attack attempt was stopped by a DAWGIE pile of

blockers (left-to-right: Meagan Little, Hannah Fort, and Jamie Kaleh)
