Hannah Davies wasted no time by starting the set with an ace serve at 1-0; then Kelli Stewart blasted one off the Cav's hands at 2-1 then followed with an ace of her own at 5-3; Michele Williams had a well placed dink at 8-3; and Jamie Kaleh sent a rocket down the court side line to put the DAWGS firmly in control at 11-5 and on the 'right side of the whip'. The DAWGS continued to surge ahead jumping to a 21-11 lead behind several Cav errors; some great defensive plays (Hannah Fort and Ashlynn Newman block assist at 13-5 forcing the Cavs into a time out, and a Michele Williams/Kelli Stewart 'gang block' at 19-11); and some impressive kills ('All Universe' Alicia Shaffer with a line shot at 14-6; a great blast in the middle from MB/MH Hannah Fort at 16-7); and immediately followed up with the new rotation - with a statement made by a Michele 'Boom Boom' Williams' seismic SlammaJammaKrammaHamma (wow...., how far can we go with this?) kill shot at 17-7.
The DAWGS laid back at this point, chillin' and taking a brief DAWGIE nap - allowing the Lady Cavs to re-group, gain some momentum of their own, and to reappear like an old coin scoring 8 points to the Lady Bulldogs' 2 and on the doorstep to a 23-19 defecit. But OH Jamie Kaleh and Alicia Shaffer rattled off the last 2 points for Magnolia and the DAWGS maintained their perfect record against College Park and the 15-5A district for another set, 25-20. Who said being a pirate wasn't fun?
