Lady Bulldogs JV Tries to Fight Off the Wolves

The Lady Bulldogs JV fought and tooth and claw against a very determined and talented Langham Creek Lady Lobos team before varsity play this past Friday night, but came up empty in both district games.

Lady Bulldog JV Chelsea MB putting the hammer to it as a team mate watches closely.

The Lobos took control midway through Game #1 after trailing by 4 early with the Bulldogs on top 12-8, then outscoring Magnolia 10-3 to put themselves in control at 18-15. Then it was (put it on) "cruise-control" to a 25-21 win. Both teams played extremely well and had quite a few volleys that would last minutes. Normally plays last anywhere from 7 seconds to 20 seconds, depending on the level of the competitors, but these young ladies really thrilled the crowd with their play. You know, it just doesn't seem so bad when you lose a point that's been 'batted' around for a long time. And or course, it seems more exhilarating when you win it! The passing and hitting was exceptional and entertaining.

Game #2 was a see-saw battle at first as the Lady Bulldogs JV jumped on top early 6-3, only to have the Lobos tie it up at 9-9; then the Lady Bulldogs went on a 'mini-run' and were looking good on top at 14-11. But the fun stopped there, when the Lobos took off and out scored the Lady Bulldogs JV by a 14-3 margin to finish the game 25-17, the match 2-0, and unknowingly setting the trend for the night. This was the first district loss for the JV, and by a good team. I couldn't help but wonder how the events of the night before affected the psyche of the Lady Bullpups team (Please see previous blog report titled: MHS Bulldogs JV Penalized...) and hope the ladies can put that incident behind them. Next up is another district foe: Cy Creek on Tuesday Sept 6th at 5:00 PM. Go Magnolia Lady Bulldogs !!
