Lady Cougars' Fur Flying in 'Games #1 and #2'

The Tomball Lady Cougars try in vain to stop
another kill shot by the Magnolia Lady Bulldogs.

When we last visited our super-heros they had just out-lasted the Tomball Lady Cougars in Game #1 with a 27-25 win that was almost squandered away from a lead they had controlled at an early 3-1 lead through to a 24-22 game point advantage. It was 'closing time' and the Magnolia Lady Bulldogs couldn't seem to deliver a knockout punch and the Lady Cougars were scratching and clawing to tie the game up. The lead advantage see-sawed back and forth several times forcing the Lady Bulldogs to continue stepping it up until they won by two. Trailing the whole game, then tying and fighting for an eventual loss in Game #1 seemed to take the steam out of Tomball, but they were not ready to roll over and let the Lady Bulldogs take their first match win (in the last hundred-or-so attempts) in the Lady Cougars' den. When the Lady Bulldogs were 'biting' they were impressive with good efforts from all: Mary Chadwick setting nicely, Michele 'Boom Boom' Williams and Lauren 'Hammer' Michael pounding, good ball control and passing and a "stealth-like" defense. When they were 'barking' they were not very impressive at all.

Alicia Shaffer started Game #2 with her patented serving aces to put the Lady Bulldogs on top at 5-1, then Tomball came back to tie things up at 6-6. The Lady Bulldogs asserted themselves a little more and took control out-scoring the Lady Cougars 12-4 to where this audio picks up in Game #2 with Magnolia leading 18-10:
