Cougar Meat Left on the Bone

Classic moment as Lady Bulldogs Michele Williams (3) and Jamie Kaleh (6) team up to
reject Cy Creek's futile attack. Alicia Shaffer (10) eyes intently for any 'scraps'.

I guess it's just one of those unexplained mysteries of the universe -- you're a fan watching your favorite team leading a game of volleyball all the way through and have a 24-20 lead at the end of the game and start having these thoughts like 'relax... it's over' creeping into your head...and before you know it, you're ended up tied? Don't get me wrong, it's not like it doesn't happen in baseball, football and professional sports alike. But it's like a supernatural force appears from somewhere that takes over everything and is bigger than inertia, or momentum, whatever...
There was no quitting in either of these two teams and again the fans were treated to top girls' 5A district volleyball play at it's best. Cy Creek called timeout at 20-24 and came back from the edge of defeat to tie it up at 24-24 and the battle was on. It doesn't get more exciting than both teams going into extra play with everything on the line! We have to apologize for not being able to bring the end of this Game #2 to you, but the audio blog cut us off as Cy Creek was fighting back at 22-24. It seemed as if the game went on for another 20 minutes as the Lady Cougars finally came out on top at 31-29. The gym was crowded and loud and things were close to 'getting out-of-control'. Our little audio mikes were picking up lots of ambient noise. The Lady Cougars may have felt like they won this battle and had a chance to up-end the Lady Bulldogs, but they didn't know they were beginning to lose the war....

Real exciting action picking up at 17-17:
