JV Falls Short in Match vs Langham Creek JV

Lady Bulldog JV Ashley Howe giving it all she's got against Langham Creek.

For the second time this season the Lady Bulldogs JV stumbled and fell to district foe: Langham Creek on Tuesday at the Dawg House. The Bullpups won the first game 25-20 with a great surge at the end of the game, coming back from a 14-17 defecit with a Breane Matula kill at 16-19 and with an 8-1 run, culminating with a timely Chelsea Jackson block point at 24-20, and before the Lady Lobos JV had time to re-adjust to any of this, it was over. The Lady Bulldogs JV really showed some grit in this game trailing from the beginning at 3-4 until they tied Langham Creek at 20-20 with kills from Kati Michael, Katie Kreft, and the kill from Breane that turned the heat up and gave the ladies momentum.
The momentum was short lived though, as one of the unexplained but common forces of volleyball took over as Langham Creek blew the JV away (25-15), leading start-to-finish in Game #2 for an easy victory. MB Chelsea Jackson kept up the fight with an early kill and a blocked point at 10-11, but that was as close as it got, as the Lady Lobos pulled away outscoring the Bullpups 14-5 when we needed to close the match in 2 games...ouch!

Lady Bulldogs JV coming out strong in Game #3 with Lynnsay
Manning (12) and Katie Kreft ready to pounce on any return.
Game #3 is still a mystery for all who watched. The JVs started out with a 7-1, 10-4 and even an 11-4 score when the Lady Lobos called timeout. When play resumed, the Lobos served well and took all the free points the Bullpups would give while they started their lethargic demise from this point by dropping 13 points to scoring 5 and awoke later, finding themselves trailing at 16-17. From there the game got tight and the lead see-sawed back and forth until Langham Creek grasped the "brass ring" at 22-21 and scored 3 straight to close it up with a 25-21 district match win. Pretty "deja vu-ish"....the JV has got to learn to be aggressive and close out these potential wins and to fight 'tooth-and-nail' on every point -- they've had the chances!
Cy Creek is next! AWAY at 5PM Friday Oct 7th. GO LADY BULLDOGS JV !!!
