Lady Bulldogs Varsity Jumps on Lady Cougars

Well folks, for those who've been following Lady Bulldogs' volleyball: it was a good start for a great evening of Texas ladies' volleyball memories. (fade back) The weather was cool, the gym was filling with boisterous, anxious fans somehow wanting both teams to win; the music was loud; the scent of fresh-made popcorn was in the air; there were fans in all areas of the gym renewing friendships and rivalries with each other; the banners were hanging, slowly waving back and forth to the rhythm of the slight bursts of air from the vents near the top of the walls - then once you add the past achievements of Cy Creek's rich volleyball tradition to the mix; and that touch of excitement, (or perhaps anticipation) of a feeling reminiscent of 'Round 1' of a historical, heavyweight fight that was getting ready to begin: all for the ladies' and their school's glory. (fast forward) Oh, did I mention that both teams' performances this season have basically mirrored each others? You had to expect Cy Creek wanted a little extra revenge for Magnolia sweeping them at the Dawg House and, (oh yeah)....definitely wanted this match for any hopes of staying in the district 17-5A race.
The Lady Bulldogs didn't disappoint their fans as they came out at the bell with a series of punches that knocked Cy Creek down, but not out - after all, it was just Game #1... 'Boom Boom' Williams opened the evening with the Williams' Glide to the right, Lauren Michael threw a 'heater' by them to push Magnolia ahead at 7-6, Hannah Fort slipped a dink in at 10-8, and Michele Williams (again) jammed them with a kill to establish Magnolia as the top dog and team to beat at 15-9. Cy Creek could do little more than to add 5 more points to their total for the game, while the Lady Bulldogs hammered 10 points home for the good guys.
Ding!...25-14 ...Crowd control at it's best...
Game #1: Lady Bulldogs establish control.
