DAWGS Carve Into Lady Lions

The Lady Bulldogs wasted no time in the second set as they pulled away from a 2-2 tie and went off on a tear, owning a 4 point edge through a 10-6 score behind the reliable Alicia Shaffer, Michele Williams, Jamie Kaleh and Kelli Stewart who all punished the Lions as the Lady Bulldogs controlled the game from the onset.

Lady Lions while Brittany Wheaton and Alicia Shaffer (10) "have their backs".

When the rotation came around, Hannah Fort lit 'em up with 3 of her 6 kills for the evening and kept a 4 point edge working as the score climbed to 17-13. From there, Meagan Little pounded a shot off the Lions at 18-13 as the Lionettes continued with their problems holding up against the stronger Lady Bulldogs. Again, they fell down when Alicia Shaffer pummeled them with a shot off their hands at 22-16 and a scorcher of a shot at 24-16. The DAWGS coasted through the finish line at 25-18 and the crowd began to feel a little nostalgic, perhaps realizing they wouldn't probably be seeing this team playing more than 1 game in their beloved DAWG House anymore.

They say, "all great things must come to an end", but these ladies are a unique group of talented athletes and for those who have been following them, well let's say "we've certainly enjoyed the ride". The ladies have set the bar even higher for the younger players who will look forward to being a Lady Bulldog volleyball player when they enter the program. Not many athletes get a chance to be a part of a dynasty in their careers!
