DAWGS Stay on Course Over Lady Highlanders

Lady Bulldogs Kelli Stewart (l) and Hannah Fort (r) cut off any
Lady Highlanders' thoughts of going through the middle.

The Lady Bulldogs wasted no time in immediately taking the high road against their District 15-5A rival The Woodlands' Lady Highlanders; never looking back while establishing control of the match and putting on a show for the home fans in the Woodlands' gym. There was a ton of Magnolia fans at the gym who out-cheered the home crowd and took away any "home field advantage" The Woodlands might have thought they would have. The DAWGS had answers for everything the Lady Highlanders threw at them and had a few left over when they needed to stop any momentum changes. The DAWGS maintained a 4 point edge throughout most of the game and used most of their weapons at their disposal. They had 11 serving aces for the night and have been serving well as of late, but with Caitlin Holland and Hannah Davies spreading out 35 assists among 6 hitters - The Lady Highlanders didn't have enough fingers to plug the holes in their leaking dam, and it was 'just a matter of time' before Magnolia would overpower them and send them down the river.

Lady Bulldog Kristyn Bergen lit 'em up for 9 kills in an
important win for possession of first place in District 15-5A.

This late audio comes in late in Set #2 and the Lady Bulldogs remain in control at 24-20. Magnolia has been in front of the Lady Highlanders since the first point of the first set (which the Lady Bulldogs won 25-22), and is still too strong for The Woodlands to seriously contend with. The DAWGS kept The Woodlands within sight (and with hope) with their errors and at times, sloppy play...but, the ladies never lost their composure and their "edge". Instead, the ladies regrouped and would run off 3 or 4 consecutive points with hard kill shots and timely blocks. here's the end of this set:
