In set #1, the Bullpups led 8-2 before the Lady Panthers knew what was happening behind a couple of service aces from Jamie Paulson and a Brittany Wheaton kill and Meagan Little dink - then opened up the margin with some help from Chelsea Jackson and a Breann Matula dink, then 3 serving aces from Angela Yzaguirre putting our PUPS in an 12 point lead at 20-8. After a couple of errors the Lady Bulldogs' OH Jamie Paulson rallied a couple of points from a kill shot off the defenders' hands and an ace at 22-11, then played stingy defense, causing Lufkin to error until Meagan Little put the Panthers to sleep at 25-13 with a booming 'Happy Birthday' bombshell of a hit. Set #1...in the books and the PUPS are half way there!!
The second set was very similar to the first set - only more dominance from Magnolia! This time, Jamie Paulson started the set out with 3 serving aces putting the DAWGS in control at 4-1; then an assortment of points from Brittany Wheaton (kills at 6-3 and a couple of aces at 11-4 and 12-4); a couple of Meagan Little kills; and 2 Breann Matula kills (at 16-8 and 17-8) before Angela Yzaguirre had back-to-back serving aces to again have the PUPS in the lead at 20-8. Wow,....this is very deja vu-ish!! The PUPS put 4 more earned points on the Lady Panthers (Breann Matula kill, Brittany Wheaton shot off their hands, another Jamie Paulson ace, and a final point from a Michelle Larson dink at 25-9.
