JV Undefeated District Champs !!

The Magnolia Lady Bulldogs JV are District 15-5A Champions
and have a lot to be happy about after completing their match
and season undefeated in district play.

The Lady Bulldog JV finished the district season undefeated, and as District 15-5A Champs by taking care of their business 'at hand' Tuesday night by running down and sweeping the Lady Highlanders from The Woodlands in 2 exciting sets ending at 25-22 and 25-18. It wasn't easy, no one said it would be, and the Bullpups had to perform some of their best work when the game was on the line.

The PUPS have been at the top of the JV 15-5A District standings all season long and worked hard to get there. Not only did the ladies work hard during the summer and play volleyball in summer league competition; then practice in the July and August heat; scrimmage and open the season with a sweep over Dulles; then win the championship at the Bryan Tournament in impressive fashion; but they managed to be perched at the top of a new district for Magnolia - all season and all the time undefeated!! Awesome job ladies!!

The Lady Bulldogs JV in a two-pronged attack with Breann
Matula and Michelle Larson both in position to make the kill.

The ladies didn't reach that plateau with luck....not hardly! They got there playing great volleyball with synchronized digs and passing; high attack percentages; serves that kept their opponents on their heels; a great defensive effort and cohesive teamwork that kept the ball moving around and back at their opponents. Of course, it didn't hurt when the Bullpups controlled the front line with just about every opponent they faced and at times "served 'em to death" and sweeping their opponents off their own home courts! I don't know about you folks, but I love a team with a "killer instinct"... and I especially love them even more, when it's OUR team!!

The PUPS had to pool from all of their resources and experienced from this season, in the first set, if they wanted to remain undefeated, as The Woodlands JV had their own plans with nothing but UPSET in their minds when they took the floor at the DAWG House. The Lady Highlanders came after the DAWGS from the beginning taking an early lead. After being down in game one at 15-20, the Bullpups fought back like the champions they knew they were, by promptly outscoring the Lady Highlanders 10 to 2, at crunch time, and defeated The Woodlands 25-22 in the first set. That comeback doused the fire in The Woodlands hearts and heads for this evening and no doubt gave them a dose of indigestion, to boot!

The Bullpups used the momentum and MoJo they had worked up previously to scamper by the Lady Highlanders behind an offensive barrage of attacks from Magnolia and some pretty nifty serving from Jamie Paulson and Angela Yzaguirre who were always close to the ace leaders in the JV district stats all season. The Lady Dogs won it going away at 25-18. What a great finish to the year for the JV, who fought back in game one before ruling The Woodlands in game 2 to win! 10-0!

A couple of good reasons to look forward to next year!!..... GO DAWGS!!!
