Dawgs Sweep 4th District Opponent in a Row

Lady Bulldog Michele Williams bustin' through the double-team against the Woodlands.

Lady Bulldogs on top at 22-16 in this Set #3 and are trying to close out this match in front of a full house. The Woodlands put up a great fight and were not so willing to have Magnolia be in sole possession of first place, but there was not much they could do about it tonight. The DAWGS controlled the net and the game, behind their hitting (Michele Williams had 13 kills; Kristyn Bergen next with 9 kills; Alicia Shaffer chipped in 8 kills; Hannah Fort had 5 and Jamie Kaleh had 4 kills); their blocking ( Hannah Fort led the DAWGS with 4 assist blocks and 1 solo block; Jamie Kaleh had 2 assist blocks while Kristyn Bergen and Kelli Stewart had 1 assist block apiece) and then there was the "digs" (Alicia Shaffer had 15 digs; followed by Michele Williams with 10; Caitlin Holland and Kristyn Bergen with 8 digs apiece; Anna Barren with 7; Hannah Fort with 6; Hannah Davies with 5).... obviously, a busy night for all and a TOTAL team effort!!

The Lady Bulldogs enjoying a quick moment of "ONE-NESS"!!

The Woodlands kept the set close when the score was at 10-9, but as the DAWGS have been known to do...they went to work outscoring them 7-2 behind a barrage of shots during some exciting volleys, and kill shots by Jamie Kaleh and Alicia Shaffer to set the score at 18-12. From there the teams traded points, though The Woodlands could not afford to do so, and that was the end of the story....

Lady Bulldogs Alicia Shaffer worked extra hard for her 8
kills tonight (here against The Woodlands' MB Kristin Martel)..

The Lady Bulldogs ruled tonight....4 sweeps in a row and Number 18 sweep for the year AND sole possession of First Place in District 15-5A after the First Round!!
