DAWGS Win Pivotal Set #2 Against Lady Tigers

The Magnolia fans kept their cool during the match never doubting the outcome.

The Klein Collins Lady Tigers made the match interesting with a great effort against Magnolia, but seemed to run out of ammunition late in the set. Klein played the DAWGS close despite the hammering that was going on by Michele Williams and Hannah Fort and Kristyn Bergen who finished the evening with 6 kills. Kristyn's shot off the Tigers' paws at 7-6 seemed to be the divider between the teams and the Lady Bulldogs maintained a small edge going forward.

The Lady Tigers did not back down and gave it a great effort, but couldn't seem to pull even with Magnolia. There were some slick moves in this one with a left handed dink kill by Alicia Shaffer, a rifle shot down the right line by Kelli Stewart, a soaring Hannah Hustle Fort Glide shot on the right, and even a 'classic bait-and-switch' dink by Michele Williams in the middle, completely befuddling the younger Tigers. Michele had been slamming 'em all evening enroute to her 18 kills, but this time she drew the blockers up for the block attempt, only to tip it over their hands for an easy point. We had some technical issues to deal with, but we got the end of this set with this file at: 24-21. DAWGS on the prowl...

The DAWGS scratched out this win and were at set point here in Game 2.
The Magnolia crowd was cheering, "One more point...one more point!"
